Reporting a Problem

This page is under development, as we gradually try to put together details of the County Council footpaths and rights-of-way departments. Please help us to update this page with any relevant changes or additional information.

The Ramblers

Even if you contact the local authority (below), it is worth letting the Ramblers Association know too. They maintain a database of problems and also pursue the most urgent ones. Their own local groups organise weekly walks and they can actively fix the problems. Use this Path Watch website.

Berkshire

There's a site for West Berkshire and then individual sites for the eastern towns, such as Reading. The West Berkshire site is Rights of Way Maintenance and Enforcement. It's more like a policy statement than an interactive website, but they do give you useful email addresses and phone numbers. For the towns etc., you'll find plenty by browsing.

Buckinghamshire

This is for the south-easterly part of our Chilterns section. They have a map-based Report It website.

East Sussex

Use this Report a Problem with a Right of Way website. Note that they also have a phone number you can use.

Hampshire

They have a sophisticated Report a Problem website. You have to register but it's quick and easy. They like to have photos if possible. There's a how-to-use guide.

Hertfordshire

They have a Rights of Way website where you can report a fault, although it seems to apply to roads as well as footpaths.

Kent

Use this Report a Problem on a Right of Way website. It allows you to report and track a fault.

Oxfordshire

This is for the north-westerly part of our Chilterns section. Use this Report an issue on a public right of way website. It uses a map.

Buckinghamshire

Use this Rights of Way website. It allows you to report and track a fault.

Surrey

Use this Rights of Way website. It allows you to report and track a fault.

West Sussex

Use this Report a Problem with a Right of Way website. Beware of some aspects of their website: NEVER click on the most serious category which is to ask to CLOSE the path!

Wiltshire

They have a rather too general Report a problem website and it should be possible to follow the links.
